Albert Einstein said, “There are two ways to look at life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”
I believe that everything around us carries energy, and everything is connected on a much deeper level than we will probably ever know.
I believe every herb, spice, fruit, and flower we eat has a story of its own. Some have been used for healing the body; Some the mind; Some the spirit. Their stories have evolved over many cultures, and many centuries.
There are foods and dishes used all over the world to signify the importance of a moment in time, or to signify the passing of time itself. Some have been created by famous chefs to honor famous people, and some have been created by one famous grandma known solely to her family.
Some stories have been faded to “old wive’s tales”, some have been simply forgotten. But just because we’ve forgotten magic, doesn’t mean it isn’t there.
Here I hope to share a few of those stories… and probably make a few up along the way
A New Year, and a Full Moon in Cancer
Almond Crescent Moon Cookies for the Full Moon in Cancer
Reflection / Evolution
Anyone that talks to me for any extended period of time will quickly learn that I am into all “that witchy shit” (as my husband likes to call it). Nature and solitude always felt safer to me as a kid than groups of people. I was fun and silly, either as defense, or because you were lucky enough to enter my trust. Otherwise I often felt awkward and was much happier on a rock, down in the ravine, drawing whatever caught my eye, or my imagination. I believed in fairies and magic. I believed the plants and animals were my friends. I believed everything around me had and shared energy. Then I grew up.
Full Moon in Aries Shortbreads
When the moon is full, it is at its most reflective state. With all of her being physically bouncing the suns rays back towards us, this is the time to reflect back on ourselves as well.
Tonight the full moon is in fiery Aries, the first sign of the zodiac, the initiator, the idea factory, full of energy, sometimes quick to excite or anger, full of passion.
